Former Dell Execs Looking to Invest in Breakaway Ideas
At a time when funding for startups is tight, an Austin venture firm led by former Dell Inc. senior executives is looking for deals.
Daylight Partners, founded 20 months ago by Dell veteran Ro Parra, has made seven investments — six of them in Austin companies — and is in the process of closing two more.

City Moves Forward on Water Pipeline
The City Council voted July 28 to ask the Texas Water Development Board for an $8 million loan to design and permit a pipeline. Payments can be deferred and the loan will not accrue interest for up to 10 years, though it must be paid back within 20.

Marine Science Institute Groundbreaking in Port Aransas
(Port Aransas) - Officials have broken ground for a new building at The University of Texas at Austin's Marine Science Institute. The 35,000-sf building will be connected to the existing facilities at 750 Channel View Drive.
The $20 million building, which is to be constructed over the next 18 months, will be the headquarters of the Mission-Aransas National Estuarine Research Reserve.

Corpus Christi International $3M Facility Construction
Ground has been broken on a new $3 million Airfield Equipment and Maintenance Facility that will provide a mechanics workshop, a grease pit and space to store the sweeper, a backhoe, bat wing mowers, forklifts and tillers at Corpus Christi International Airport.
