In the early 1970’s, the plastics industry was searching for a coating to prevent fogging. In response to this product need, Exxene Corporation became the first company to develop and produce an effective, commercially viable anti-fog coating. Originally founded in Chicago in 1976, Exxene moved to Corpus Christi just four years after its founding.

Since its founding, Exxene has become a leader in coating technologies, continuing to create products that add durability and functionality. Its product offerings have grown to include permanent hard coats with extended shelf life and permanent scratch-resistant anti-fog coatings. It has also developed unique primer options that provide excellent adhesion on a multitude of substrates. During the last decade, great technological strides have enabled Exxene to create many unique products such as Photochromic, UV light-curable, and Anti-Static coatings.

Exxene offers high-quality protective and functional coatings for clear plastics, glass and metal surfaces. It specializes in manufacturing and applying effective clear coatings for the eye vision and optical market.

With over 30 years of successful innovation Exxene offers application experience and a comprehensive line of coating products including:

Most of these coatings are available as ‘green’ compliant UV curable versions and water-based versions.

In 2003, Exxene was the recipient of the Corpus Christi Regional Economic Development Corporation’s Compass Award which recognized Exxene for its new job growth during the year.
