Occidental Chemical Corporation’s Ingleside plant is an integral part of the OxyChem commitment to the industrial chemicals market. The plant’s 1,200 acres are strategically located along the Texas Coastal Bend with excellent dock, pipeline and rail facilities which makes this facility an important international as well as domestic supplier.

The Ingleside chlor-alkali plant began operating in 1977. OxyChem acquired the facility in 1987 from DuPont and refurbished it to restart production in 1988. Since then, a $40 million EDC plant was added in 1989 and the $300 million OxyMar vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) plant started up in 1990. A $150 million OxyMar VCM expansion started up in 1997 and a $200 million co-generation power plant started up in 1999.

The OxyChem – Ingleside plant produces important commodity chemicals such as chlorine, caustic soda and VCM, commonly referred to as Vinyl, for industry use worldwide. The plant also produces electricity for its own use and to sell on the energy market.
