International Resistive Company of Texas LP (IRC-AFD), a division of TT electronics, has been located in Corpus Christi since 1975. IRC-AFD operates 24 hours a day, six days a week at its 100,000 square foot facility on Staples Street which houses state-of-the-art Class 100 and Class 1000 clean rooms and modern highly automated processing equipment for large volume thin film deposition and a new semi-conductor fabrication line for producing the tantalum nitride on silicon products.
IRC-AFD specializes in integrating various resistor film systems with substrate materials to form resistors, sensors and other resistive devices. Resistive technologies include thin film tantalum nitride discretes and networks on ceramic and silicon substrates for precision high-frequency applications, thick film low- and high- resistance chip resistors, automotive assemblies and cylindrical surface mount resistors.
IRC-AFD proprietary thick film resistors are used in automotive heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems. The thick film resistors are also used in laptop computers, cell phones and test equipment. IRC-AFD tantalum nitride resistors are premier, ultra-precision thin film resistors which are used in automotive, telecommunication, computer, instrumentation, military, medical and industrial control applications. Lastly, IRC-AFD resistive-temperature devices are used in mass air flow measurement to control the fuel-air mixture for high-efficiency, low-emissions from auto engines and are also used in industrial and medical applications. The resistor technologies employed in these temperature-sensing devices are either platinum films or proprietary nickel thin film materials.
