Recognized as One of the Best Manufacturing Companies

San Antonio-based Valero Energy Corporation, an oil refining and marketing company, has been recognized by IndustryWeek magazine as one of the 50 best publicly-held U. S. manufacturing companies for 2006.

Valero is the largest oil refiner in North America with a daily refining capacity of approximately 3.3 million barrels of crude oil. In addition to its refineries, Valero has more than 5,500 retail and wholesale stores located throughout the U.S. Two of Valero’s refineries are located on the ship channel in Corpus Christi. The Corpus Christi refineries, which refine approximately 350,000 barrels of crude oil each day, have over 800 employees.

In addition to being one of the best manufacturing companies, Valero is a major philanthropic company. Valero’s 22,000 employees pledged $13 million to the 2006 United Way campaign which is $1 million more than was pledged for the 2005 campaign.
