Permitting Coordination

As part of its mission to assist primary employers, the Corpus Christi Regional Economic Development Corporation will coordinate the local permitting process for both new and existing primary employers. In this capacity, the CCREDC will serve as liaison between the city staff and the primary employer to ensure that the permitting process goes as quickly and smoothly as possible.

As an alternative to the city’s permitting process, a company has the option of locating in one of the city’s three industrial districts. These industrial districts are areas that have been deannexed from the city and therefore have no zoning, platting, permitting or building code enforcement requirements.

Businesses in an Industrial District are exempt from zoning and

permitting requirements. In addition, platting may be waived if the

seller submits for approval by the City Council a site plan, both the

buyer and seller enter into agreement that if buyer’s use of the

property materially changes platting shall be required and seller

remains solely responsible for any payments in lieu of taxes unless the
buyer enters into a supplemental industrial district contract with the city.

Typical Corpus Christi Project Fees

Commercial Plan Review: Greater of: $41.00 or 24% of the building permit fee for the first $2,000,000 of valuation + 185 of building permit fee for the next $1,000,000 + 13% of building permit fee for any valuation over $3,000,000.

Air, water and wastewater permitting for the state of Texas is handled by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). For permitting information and questions, please contact the Region 14 offices of TCEQ.

TCEQ’s Region 14 offices cover the following counties: Aransas, Bee, Calhoun, DeWitt, Goliad, Gonzales, Jackson, Jim Wells, Kleberg, Lavaca, Live Oak, Nueces, Refugio, San Patricio and Victoria.
