Higher Education

In the field of higher education, Corpus Christi gets excellent marks. The region is home to four institutions of higher learning. Two of these institutions are part of the Texas A&M University System: Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and Texas A&M University-Kingsville. Two others, Del Mar College and Coastal Bend College, are two-year community colleges.


Texas A&M University Corpus Christi ‘The Island University’ 


The University enrolls more than 11,500 students and is part of The Texas A&M University System. The five academic colleges offer bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees from highly accomplished faculty, 90 percent of whom hold the highest degree in their fields. Numerous bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees are offered in five colleges: Business, Education, Liberal Arts, Nursing and Health Sciences, and Science and Engineering.



Texas A&M University Kingsville  


Texas A&M-Kingsville seeks to provide quality undergraduate and graduate programs for students of all ages through a judicious blend of liberal and career education programs. The emphasis is on providing an intellectually challenging education reflecting high standards of academic performance.  Texas A&M-Kingsville is dedicated to serving an ethnically and culturally diverse population. The University is committed to its mission of teaching, research, and service in South Texas for the advancement of knowledge and of regional development.

Del Mar College 


Del Mar College has been helping Coastal Bend students achieve their dreams for over 75 years. As the largest institution of higher education in South Texas, the college offers a unique blend of academic programs to meet a broad range of career goals and educational aspirations.

Del Mar College offers degrees in Associate in Arts and Associate in Science degrees in over 50 university transfer majors; Associate in Applied Science degrees, Enhanced Skills Certificates, Certificates of Achievement and Marketable Skills Achievement (MSA) awards in more than 140 occupational fields (multiple awards are offered in some fields).

Coastal Bend College


Coastal Bend College is a comprehensive, public community college serving a diverse South Texas area with a main campus in Beeville and other sites in Alice, Kingsville and Pleasanton.  It is a student-centered institution committed to the highest integrity and to the development of an educational culture that supports creativity, encourages professional development, and promotes excellence in all areas. 



 Craft Training Center


The Craft Training Center of the Coastal Bend offers training in welding, pipefitting, instrument fitting, instrument tech, industrial painting, scaffold-building, mobile crane operations, and field safety/safety technology. The center also provides industry assessments in all craft areas including an NCCER Accredited Crane Performance Center and Rigger/Signal Person Performance Center.
