Port Of Corpus Christi
The region is home to Port Corpus Christi. The Port is the 6th busiest port by tonnage in the U.S. Port Corpus Christi’s goal is to be the energy port of the Americas. The first crude oil export in 40 years sailed out of Port Corpus Christi on December 31, 2015. The crude was sold to the international trading company Vitol. RAILROADS
Corpus Christi has three Class I railroads:
- BNSF - Burlington Northern Santa Fe
- UP - Union Pacific
- KCS - Kansas City Southern
Plus Port Corpus Christi has a short line railroad serving the inner harbor area and connects with BNSF, Kansas City Southern and Union Pacific Railroad.
HIGHWAYS
Corpus Christi has IH-37 which runs from Corpus Christi to San Antonio and IH-69 (NAFTA Highway) which runs from the Texas-Mexico border through Corpus Christi, Houston, and ends in Detroit. There are State Highways 35, 44, 361 that allows inventory to be up to 65 mph within 5 minutes of leaving the loading docks. The Regional Transportation Authority provides bus service to major employment centers.
AIRPORT
Corpus Christi International Airport (CRP), located 8 miles from downtown, serves the region with three airlines going to Dallas and to both airports in Houston.
